Chris Scheer

Outdoor Living Specialist · Co-owner

Chris founded Father Nature Landscapes in Tacoma in 2006 and still walks most properties himself before a project begins. He writes here about designing and building outdoor living spaces that hold up to Pacific Northwest weather and get used every season.

001 — Background

Chris is a builder first who grew into high-end design.

He started Father Nature with one crew in 2006 and built it into a Tacoma design-build firm that draws the plan, sets the cost, installs the work, and comes back to maintain it, all with the same in-house crew. He leads the design conversation in the field, not from behind a desk.

Every project he takes on starts with a conceptual landscape design: a buildable plan with materials, layout, planting, and lighting worked out before anything gets dug, and a real estimate walked through line by line at the kitchen table.

His work designs a yard for all five senses, not just the photograph. Sight lines from the kitchen window, water tuned to the volume of a conversation, warm stone underfoot, herbs by the back door. The result is an outdoor space people actually live in, through the South Sound's wet winters and dry summers.

Work with Chris and the crew.

Every project starts with a site walk. We visit the property, listen to how you use it, and decide together whether the fit is right.
