Where we work

Puyallup runs from the flat valley floor up onto South Hill, and the best outdoor spaces here are the ones that work with that grade instead of fighting it.

On a recent South Hill project, the backyard fell nearly three feet to the fence line. We rebuilt it as a series of level, retained outdoor rooms, so an unusable slope became a deck, a patio, and a place to actually sit. That is the kind of build South Hill and Gem Heights lots tend to need: proper retaining first, then the deck and the planting on solid ground.

We handle the whole thing as one build, design through lighting, so the finished yard reads as a single space. Larger hillside lots give us room for real outdoor living: a covered deck for the wet months, an outdoor kitchen, a fire feature, and planting that holds a slope without turning into a maintenance problem.

We have built across Pierce County since 2006, and Puyallup is a short drive from our Tacoma shop.

Is it a fit?

Built for a real project, not a quick fix.

Most of our Puyallup projects start around $25,000 and land north of $50,000: full outdoor rooms with the design, hardscape, planting, and lighting handled together.

If you are after weekly mowing or a quick one-off fix, you are probably not looking for our full design-build service. But if you are ready to turn the yard into the best room in the house, that is exactly what we build.

005 — How it actually goes

What the build looks like
from your side.

Most of our buyers have been burned before — by a quick-quote contractor, a vague estimate, a crew that vanished. Here's what to expect, step by step.

  1. I.

    The first meeting

Chris or Cameron shows up. It's not a sales pitch — it's both sides deciding whether the fit is right. Bring your questions. We'll bring ours. If it's a fit, we keep going. If not, you've lost nothing.

  2. II.

    See it before the shovel

Your conceptual landscape design is a real plan — materials, layout, planting, lighting, and a clear cost estimate — worked out at the kitchen table before the first day of work. No lowball quotes that balloon later. You see the project, then decide.

  3. III.

Real numbers, walked through line by line

No off-the-hip estimates. We sit with you and explain what each line item buys and where the cost comes from. From there the work runs on time and materials — you pay for the actual hours on your property and the actual materials used, never a guess that balloons later. It's the fairest model for both sides.

  4. IV.

    Same crew, every week

The same crew builds your project start to finish. Same names on site through the whole build. Changes aren't arguments — they're conversations, talked through and approved before anyone swings a tool.

  5. V.

We don't disappear at the end

Walkthrough, punch-out, follow-up. Many projects roll naturally into a maintenance contract because the team you've worked with for weeks is the same team you'll see next spring. Most of our clients come back for a second or third project.

Common questions

Puyallup outdoor living, answered.

Do you work on the sloped lots common on South Hill?

Yes, and a lot of our Puyallup work is exactly that. Where a yard falls off toward the fence line, we build the retaining first, then set the deck, patio, and planting on level, solid ground so the whole space is usable.

What does a Puyallup outdoor living project usually cost?

Most start around $25,000 and average $50,000 or more, depending on scope. We build full outdoor rooms (deck or patio, fire and cooking, planting, and lighting), so the number reflects a finished space rather than a single element.

When should we start if we want to build next season?

Design is winter work. The best time to plan a spring or summer build is the previous fall, so the design is settled and permitting is underway before the crews open up. Earlier conversations get earlier build slots.

Do you handle permits and HOA design review?

Yes. We manage the permitting a project needs and work within the HOA and design-review requirements common to South Hill's newer communities.

Are you local to Puyallup?

We are based at our Tacoma shop on Portland Avenue, a short drive from Puyallup, and have built across Pierce County since 2006, from the valley up onto South Hill.
